ALICE C. MAYNARD
ITHACA - Alice C. Maynard, 75, formerly of Linn St., died Monday, January 12, 2009, at the Cayuga Medical Center. She was born in St. Petersburg, FL, daughter of the late Charles and Alice Tebeau Maynard.
Alice was a member of the Ithaca High School Class of 1951 and retired from Cornell University in 1991, after 28 years of service. She began her career at Cornell at the College of Agriculture and Life Science and retired from the School of Human Ecology. Prior to Cornell, she had worked for T.G. Miller's Paper Co. Alice was very active in retirement, volunteering at Head Start, friends of the Library, Meals on Wheels and W.I.C. and had served as a mentor to area children from troubled homes. She was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Church and former member of the Third Order of St. Francis.
Alice is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Charles Edward Maynard and Beverly Maynard of Dryden; her sister, Louise A. Maynard of Ithaca; her nieces, Cynthia (David) Waterman of Dryden, Cheryl (David) Ginn and Pamela (David) Barnes of Charlotte, NC; and nephew, Brent (Maria) Maynard of Aurora, NY. She is also survived by great-nieces and great-nephews. Alice was a very generous, kindhearted woman who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Leo Reinhardt on Thursday, January 15, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church. Alice's family will greet friends in Carges Hall in the church basement, immediately following the Funeral Mass. Burial will be in Clavary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alice's memory may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church, 113 N. Geneva St., Ithaca, NY 14850; or to Loaves & Fishes, 210 N. Cayuga St., Ithaca, NY 14850. Dear Louise
We became friends long ago and Alice was a close member of our friendship and church affiliations. It delighted my soul, as @Realtor, to help locate the perfect home for you, your mother & Alice. Alice was always friendly, kind and alert when I called and asked "is Louise there?" Alice's "how are you,Helen,? and "Peace be with you" were sincerely felt. I miss her so much. In Light, Love and Sympathy, Helen Snyder

Dear Louise,
I am out of the country and not very trusting of the mails so I am using this format to let you know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. I know how focused your life has been on Alice's health and care. No one has ever had a more thoughtful and caring sister and I hope you can find some peace in knowing you did everything you could to make her last months as easy for her as possible.
