jessie and amy. Hi. You don't know me but I knew your dad as a child at Belle Sherman school.Later on his first band was called The Tradewinds who consisted of Dave lead singer and guitar, Don Townley Lead guitar Joel Warren Bass Me on tenor guitar and Don Sopp on drums, this being late 1964 or 65 we were students at DeWitt Junior High, which is now the DeWitt mall. After a while I split off and took up bass and had a very long career playing in Chicago where I moved in 1975. In sept. 2007 I moved back here and now live in Dryden. It's a real regret that I didn't make contact with your dad before he passed. We both had a pocket full of stories about giging to tell eachother.I remember his father's Gibson J-45 acoustic guitar, I wonder if he managed to hold onto it, to pass onto you. George Healey

David and I went to Ithaca High School together and graduated in the same class. May his family only remember the good times.

My sincerest condolences to your family. David and I were close friends in our early 20's and beyond. I have many fond, rich memories of get togethers for music, friendship and fun...drinking Cold Duck beside the highway in Danby, a Battling Tops marathon that lasted 2 days, fishing at Black Lake, playing guitars and singing for hours in my living room, working for my Dad together at the Sebring Inn, we shared time as good friends. He is sadly missed, but well remembered as a sweet, gentle soul of a man.

My fondest memorys of David are Sundays, loading my car with a guitar , small amp , David , DeeDee , my future wife (didn't all fit in his belovedVW) and drive to a little country bar between Van Etten and Waverly and be treated to Dave sing and play ballads all afternoon. You are missed !

I was so saddened when I read of Dave's death. I have known Dave since we were at DeWitt. He was always so kind! Yes, he sure loved his music and he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. There will be another empty chair at our class reunions. Trusting your sweet memories are a comfort.

To David's Family,
Dave was one of the "Good Guys". We were in the same graduating class at IHS, and I was always delighted to see him at our various reunions. I recently was searching around on YouTube and found a picture of a band that Dave played in, the "Continentals" along with an audio of the song. Dave is in the forefront of the picture. It had to have been taken when we were all about 17 years old. That picture is how I will remember him.
With sincerest regards,
Ron Freudenheim

I extend my deepest sympathies to you all. David and I went to Ithaca High School together and graduated in the same class. He was a most wonderful person. He had been to a few of our reunions which meant we all got to see him and enjoy him yet again. In reading the obituary, I realize that one of his nieces and my daughter graduated from Ithaca High School together and are still in contact with each other.
May you all find peace in his lasting memory.

Jesse and Amy,
My sincere condolences for the loss of your Dad. We have many a fond memory of your Dad when we lived in Newfield. He was a kind man and would help out anyone.I will never forget the look on my husbands face when your Dad drove a Delorean home and brought it over for my husbnad to take for a spin, they were like a couple of kids in a candy shop. Your Dad had a great sense of humor and always had a good "story' to tell us. I'm sure both he and Al are once again sharing "stories" in heaven.
I hope all the wonderful memories will bring you comfort in the days ahead.
Sincerely,
Julia Tennant

Very sorry to hear of Dave's passing. Jessie and Amy, I can remember playing with you when we were all a lot younger when our parents would get together. Not sure if you remember me... I am sending you positive thoughts and well wishes in this difficult time.
