My heart aches for you all for the loss you are feeling i am sure is tremendous. I have known Joanie and her family since we were young children. Memories of camping, singing, playing crocet at her home, spending the night and giggling. Even though life took us in different yet similar paths, we crossed every once in a while, hugged breifly~talked, and when we turned to continue, smiled of the fond memories....I will always be smiling of those memorie, thank you Joanie....hope to see you in the next... Love Mindy

I can remember when Joni became our baby sitter and we lived on Hawthorne Place. At that time I was wearing a brace called the Boston Brace and I had already had it on for a year and had atleast another year to go. Joni helped me with my exercise and gave me my medicine, this went on all summer. I liked it best when she took vacations with us as she could almost talk dad into anything that we wanted(she was a great teacher on how to manipulate daddy). Whether she realized it or not she taught us many things on our trips and I always thought she be a teacher. We had lots of fun with her as my parents were ancient and really didn't understand what we kids wanted, but good old Joni did. She was a super person and mom and dad loved her and us kids always felt like she was a sister to us. Joni will be missed and noone can replace her as she was one of a kind. Joni had her ups and downs in life but always came out smiling as she knew how to face life and she set a lesson for all of us to follow.
My Sympathy and Love to the Family,
MISSY

No words can describe the loss of Joni. She truly was an amazing woman! She was strong and loving and caring and her family meant the world to her. I have known Joni for 10 years as we worked together at TCDSS. I have never met anyone quite like her and I believe she is a guardian angel now. She will always be in my heart and my sympathy goes to her family who will miss her deeply. Alex, Derrick, Marifran: your mother loved you all very very much! You were her heart and soul and so were her grandchildren! The impact that Joni had on me will be forever in my heart. I hope that everyone is fortunate enough to have a "Joni" in their life. Peace be with you all.

To All Of Joni's Family,
Joni was a very special person to Patti Joseph, Missy and myself. In the summer time Joni would babysit us and we'd play a lot of games, eat and have a lot of fun with the kids in the neighborhood, she really didn't let us get away with too much or else we'd hear, "wait till your dad get home and I'm going to tell on you" and it wasn't until we were ready to graduate school that we found out she never said anything. Joni went on many trips with us as a family and we looked upon her as a sister because she was with us all the time. I haven't seen Joni in a while but she will always live in my heart forever and I'll remember the good times we use to have with her when we were kids. I believe the trip to Florida was the best.
In Sympathy,

Joni was a dear dear friend to my wife Wendy and I. As a matter of fact, she showed up at our door about three weeks ago with a pizza. Wendy and I worked with Joni for years At Ithaca Housin Authority. Her wonderful smile, and one of a kind sense of humor made it a pleasure to go to work everyday. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten. We love you our sweet friend. Chuck&Wendy. Derrick, we have never met, but I feel like we know you as much as anyone. If there is anything we can do for you, please let us know. Rest in peace our sweet friend in the arms of GOD.

My Dear Mary, Patty and Kathy,
When Kathy called me yesterday and gave me the news, I was in total shock. Joni was like a daughter to Jack and I. Joni babysat our 3 children in the summertime when she was 15 thru 17. Jack and I decided to reward her by taking her on a trip to Florida traveling down the east coast, took in all the sights went to Miami, crossed the Tamiami Trail to the west coast and took in all the sights there and then headed back to Ithaca. Joni use to come to Jack and I when she had problems and then finally me. Your sister was a very special person and I loved her for who she was as I had told her many times she will always be one of us. Joni will always be in my heart as I always had much love for her. I am here for each and everyone of you girls.
