Joshua A. Benjamin, 31, of Berkshire, also known to many as the cystic fibrosis Warrior, lost his battle on November 3, 2015 but not without a fight! He has moved on to a new life, free of struggle. This man of courage and determination, so full of life and ready with a joke or prank at any time will be so greatly missed by his best friend, soul mate, care-giver and wife of 9 years, Shannon (Armstrong) Benjamin and children, Zander Benjamin and Iris Lynch. He will also be very much missed by his devoted parents, Becky (Talton) and Harold L. Benjamin, Jr.; his siblings, Harold (Kristin) Benjamin, III, Phillip, Adrian, and Gabrial Benjamin, Crystaline Benjamin and fiancé Joshua Skellett, Heather Benjamin and fiancé Garrett Ayers and Rebekah Benjamin; his grandparents, Zoral Adrian Breeden, Gilmore Douglas and Virginia Dean; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, mother-in-law, Sharon Armstrong Pohl and many friends especially his 'Jewish Parents' Natan and Nancy Huffman. He was predeceased by his grandmother, Virginia Breeden. Josh attended Newark Valley High School where he ran cross country and graduated from Ithaca High School. He was pursuing a career in nursing at TC3 and was close to completing the course when his illness progressed beyond his control. He was an avid coin collector and very knowledgeable in the trade. Josh's family will receive their friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home on SUNDAY, NOV. 15, from 12 noon until 3 PM, followed by a Celebration of His Life at the Berkshire Fire Station. I hadn't spoke with Josh since we were in school together, but knowing about his illness, I occasionally would think about him and wonder how he was doing. I saw the article in the paper today, and needless to say, I was saddened to hear about his passing. I will always remember his positivity and happy-go-lucky attitude. My thoughts are with his family; may your memories of him bring you comfort during these difficult times.

So sorry to hear that Josh had passed on. He always made me smile and was such a man of peace & wisdom. I am a better person because Josh touched my life on so many occasions, he was always worried about every one else and not himself! He must be an angel for God now.
