Paul Giordano Obituary

PAUL (PAULIE) ANTHONY GIORDANO
ITHACA - Paul (Paulie) Giordano passed away unexpectedly at age 42 due to medical complications.
The world lost one of its kindest, most gentle and loving people on December 12, 2007. Paulie passed on to be with his mother and father and the Lord who loves us all so much. Paulie was the epitome of what a good son, brother and friend can be. He was loved by all and he never failed to reciprocate. To say that he will be missed would be a huge understatement.
Paulie was light hearted, easy going and fun. He made you laugh and always lifted your spirits. He had a one liner and a joke for almost every occasion. His quick and witty responses were spontaneous and full of charm. Full of charm - he was. Anyone who met him immediately knew they had a friend for life. This was because Paulie made you feel like the most important person in the world and had a unique way of showing it. While he was not a religious man and was just as human as the rest of us, his actions manifested what people try to gain through spirituality or religious doctrine.
He was an avid Mets and 49'ers fan. One of his fondest memories was when his friends flew him to Miami for a 49'ers game. He remembered everyone's favorite teams and hand delivered their schedules every year. It was not uncommon to find him in front of the nearest television during game time, especially at his favorite haunts where he would spend time with his many friends sharing laughs and good times.
He was a lifelong Ithaca native who grew up and spent his who life in college town. Some fondly remember him as the 2nd Mayor of C-Town. Ironically, he was an Italian born on St. Patrick's Day, which his family and friends found quite humorous. He had the luck of the Irish and always made St. Patty's Day a blast.
Paulie was a dedicated volunteer fireman with the Explorer Post #145 and was a member of the Fire Company #6. He worked in construction, in property management for restaurants, for the New York Parks Service and for the Ithaca City School District.
Paulie was predeceased by his parents, Rose Ann Vinceguerra Giordano and Guy Anthony Giordano. He is survived by his sister, Angela Marie Giordano; his brother, Joseph Gerard Giordano; sister-in-law, Alexandra Drumwright Giordano; nephew, Guy Anthony Giordano; and niece, Ariana Rose Giordano; and many friends and family.
Friends and family who wish to remember him are asked, in lieu of flowers, to make donations to the American Diabetic Association or to Fire Co. #6. (Checks payable to Sprague, Steamer & Hose #6.) Calling hours will be held at Bangs Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 19th, from 4 to 6 p.m. followed by a reception at the VFW where people are encouraged to share memories.
All the touching comments already received online are greatly appreciated and will always be treasured by the Giordano Family. Thank you. He will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved him.

Joey and Angela
My deepest condolences to you both and your family. I was saddened to see Paulie's obituary ... and although you may not remember me Joe (I knew you as Joey) I remember us being best of friends and your neighbor until 1966 when we moved to West Dryden.

Not many remember East Hill school I bet!

I remember Paulie as an adorable young child who was very sweet and kind. We moved just you were born Angela so I unfortunately never had a chance to get to know you!

Take care of yourselves and always remember the good times and to me it is amazing that such a small piece of time has a lasting impact on my life.

To all who knew and loved Paulie I send my sincere condolences. I had the privilege of knowing Paul, Angela and Joey and their dear parents as a teacher at East Hill School. I always felt love and appreciation for and from Paul when I'd run into him around town.
May he be in peace.

Paulie,
I'll always remember how enthusiastic you were at helping me stack firewood and other things. While others would look at it as work, you were always quick to volunteer your time and thought of it as just another adventure, smiling all along. I'll never be so informed about my Steelers or anyone else's favorite football teams. You'll be missed but not forgotten.

Paulie, you're a great man. I never had so much fun as we did that day you came deer hunting with us. The memory of me walking through the fields with you, chatting, is something that I will never forget, and I think of them often. You are a prize possession that we will all keep dear in our hearts. God must have needed a special angel in heaven. Well, he sure got one. We all love you, and will miss you.

The world will really miss a man like Paulie, although I haven't seen him in yaers, I will never forget the great fun we had with him. My mother was good friends with him when My brothers, sister And I were young. Even though we were children, he treated us like anyone else. He was always smiling, ready for a good laugh or to make everyone else laugh. wether it be riding around in the back of his subaru brat, or blowing his tire on his yellow chevy truck, by running up the curb at the hills enterance to the pyramid mall, it was always a good time. I never remember him ever being angry, and he always looked for the humor in everything. As I said, I haven't seen him in years and that is truly my loss, but I, As well as everyone that knew him will always remember the smile, the laugh and good times that this man provided to all of us.

My family knew Paulie from when he worked at Taughannock Park with my brother and father. To this day whenever we have a family get together and we are all sitting around the dining room table my brother always has a park story to tell and on many occasions Paulie's name has come up, and it was always a story that ended with much laughter. I'm sure the stories will still continue as we remember what an unforgettable person Paulie was. He touched many lives and will always be remembered fondly. God Bless Paulie. My deepest sympathies to the Giordano Family.

Paulie worked with me at Taughannock Falls St. Pk. and at least once a day I would hear in a deep raspy voice "Hey, boss let me put a bug in your ear", of course meaning he had some gem of wisdom or thought to pass along. I'm sure he is riding shotgun with his truck driving partner Rodney on a special route for St. Peter.

I was so saddened to read about Paul's passing. I first met Paulie (and Angie) at East Hill Elementary so many years ago. Such lovely people. On the occasion I had to return to Ithaca, I would see Paul in College Town and loved the way he had about himself. He was so affable, warm and charming. He was truly beloved and touched many, that is clear. May peace be with all of those who loved him and miss him.

I was very very shocked and dismayed to hear of paulie's passing, I will always remember him forever, I remember fondly his suburu brat, and the time as a joke his friends painted his headlights with black paint. He never got really mad about it he just joked along afterwards. Paulie is a great great soul and a man. He will always be remembered by me and my family forever. To paulie's family I am so sorry for your loss and what a loss it is. He left shoes that will never be filled. My love and prayers and thoughts to you all.

Angie, Joe and Family:

My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with you.

Paulie and I first met through Angie. If I remember right, we (7 or 8 of us) caught hell that day from Mr. G. because, well, kids will be kids, doing things we wern't supose to be doing. Our friendship continued throughout high School and beyond. Paulie always had a way to cheer you up no matter what mood you were in. If it wasn't his "what's wrong, puppy face", it was his never ending poking until you told him. Oh, and his contagious laugh, you couldn't help but to laugh along with him. He was always there no matter the circumstance, to lend an ear, or give his special advice which was sometimes "here, have a beer" when he didn't know what else to say. And if you were lucky enough, which many were, it was a big bear hug Paulie style.

Paul, from my heart to yours, you will be deeply missed by all those who loved and knew you. Rest in peace dear friend, rest in peace.

"Hey Paulie!" I would always yell at the top of my lungs. "Hey Steve! he would always yell back. That's how we greeted each other every time we saw each other, even if one of us was driving by in a car, going back as far as I can remember. I will miss our lunches in College Town and the times we spent together...So one more time.."HEY PAULIE!!!! Love, your old friend, Steve
