SARAH A. LaROCQUE
LEDYARD - Sarah A. LaRocque, 75, of Ledyard, died Monday, October 6, 2003 at Long Island Jewish Hospital on Long Island, NY.Sarah was born on March 8, 1928 in Astoria, NY, the daughter of the late Charles and Rosalia Mastropolo LoPinto.She married Bernard A. LaRocque on June 28, 1951, in Ithaca, NY. He had predeceased her.Sarah was a credit manager at the Vality, Inc. for about 15 years. Moving on to General Dynamics Electric Boat and then on to Navy Submarine Base in Groton, Ct. in various capacities.She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church since 1964 and also a member of the Ladies Guild, the Daughters of Isabella and the Ledyard Senior Center. She was also a volunteer "Grandmother" to the children at The Ledyard Center School.Sarah is lovingly survived by three daughters, Denise Gradwell of Tampa, Fla., Debra Sullivan of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl., and Cheri Gosiewski and son-in-law, David Gosiewski of New York; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one surviving brother, Charles LoPinto and predeceased by six other siblings. She also leaves behind a great number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 9 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Rte 12 in Gales Ferry. Burial will follow in the Avery-Stoddard Cemetery, Rte 214 in Ledyard. Calling hours will be held from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Gales Ferry Funeral Home of Church & Allen, Hurlbutt Rd. in Gales Ferry.
