Thelma Clapp, 96, died May 30th 2016 at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House. She was born in Cato, NY and lived the past 10 years in Corvallis. Thelma was raised in Union Springs, NY by her parents, Harriett and Clifford Anthony. Clifford was the great nephew of Susan B. Anthony. Thelma graduated from Morrisville State College in Home Economics and went to work at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY where she met and married her husband of 58 years, Elmer Clapp, Jr. They lived 8 years in Canton, NY where their children were born and then moved back to Ithaca in 1956 where they lived until 1987. Thelma was the cook manager at Belle Sherman School and at DeWitt Junior High School for 27 years. Thelma retired to Vero Beach, FL and enjoyed 18 years there before moving to Corvallis, OR following the death of her husband and son in 2005. Thelma was a remarkable woman and was loved by many. She enjoyed playing bridge, knitting, and reading. She was extremely loyal and devoted to her friends and family. She deeply loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Carol and Paul Adamus of Corvallis, OR; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House, 1046 Sixth Ave. SW, Albany, OR 97321. SERVICES: A gravesite memorial service will be held on July 2nd 2016 at the East Lawn Cemetery in Ithaca, NY.
