HEWITT
LOCKE-Thomas Heald Hewitt, 77, of West Hill Rd., Locke, NY, died Thursday, July 29, 2010, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born August 23, 1932 in Auburn, NY, son of Jefferson and Mary Elizabeth Heald Hewitt. He was a former resident of Owasco and has lived in Locke for over 30 years. Tom graduated from Moravia High School-Class of 1950. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served during the Korean War. Tom was self-employed as a cattle buyer and livestock hauler. For the last 14 years, he was a dealer for Central Boiler Outdoor Furnaces at his home, Hewitt's Hill Haven, in Locke. Tom also enjoyed driving his mule teams for many years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Dollie (Treat) Hewitt; sons, Thomas J. (Nancy) Hewitt of Virginia Beach, VA and Dana (Abby) Hewitt of Owasco; daughters, Pamela Thomas and Sara (Mark) Deen, both of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Tracy (Mark) Gauthier of Port Byron; Elizabeth (Ron) Moe of Freeville; and Rebecca (Edward) Kinney of Jordan; 12 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother: Jefferson "Bud" (Nancy) Hewitt of Bluffton, IN; a sister, Mary (George) Owen of LaFayette, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two granddaughters, Katherine Hewitt (1991) and Ashley Hewitt (2001).
Calling hours will be held from 7:00-9:00 PM Sunday and 1:00-4:00 PM Monday at New Hope Bible Fellowship Church, Oak Hill Road, Moravia, NY. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, Monday, August 2, 2010, at the New Hope Bible Fellowship Church. Revs. James Barbour and Ken Cetton will be officiating. Burial will be in the Baker Cemetery, Townline Road, Moravia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 1130 Corporate Dr., Auburn, NY 13021, or your local food pantry. Arrangements are with the Wade Funeral Home, Moravia.

My heart felt condolences.... God knows the "Rancher" was a true friend who mentored and help me through a very difficult period... I know from our last meeting he ran the race set before him with merit, Saved 'n Sanctified." Hard to know he won't be at the Hill, but I'll see him again on another fence tour with his gray mare or with the ole Dodge. God Bless Ya'll.

Dollie,
Our prayers to you and your family in the loss of Tom. I recall many times he would come by for a visit with my dad.. They always had alot to talk about and problems to solve!! I am sure they are still carrying on today!!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
