Vera Bond Obituary

BOND, VERA ALMA CAMPION

INTERLAKEN, NY: Vera Alma Campion Bond, a long time resident of Interlaken, NY, age 89, died peacefully in her sleep under the special and loving care of the staff at the Beachtree Care Center, Ithaca, NY on February 26, 2015.

Vera is survived by her son, Jeffrey Lee Bond (Elizabeth) of Romulus, NY; her brother, Charles F. Tindell (Tammy Winter), of Pennsylvania; her long time love of 43 years, Robert Srnka of Ithaca, NY; her grandchildren, Annalisa (Zack) Perry, Jason Bond, Julie (Justin) Kieffer, Amanda (Scott) Updike, and Eve Bond Vernacchio. She is also survived by a niece, four nephews and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son, James Maurice (Margaret) Bond of Manassas, VA; and her sister, Caroline Guidi of Ithaca, NY.

Vera was born on January 27, 1926 in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ, to the parents Roger Campion and Alma Roberts Campion Tindell. She graduated from Interlaken High School in 1944. Vera went on to work as an LPN at the Willard Psychiatric Center for several years until she moved to Long Island, at which time she worked in the business sector in NYC. She eventually returned to the Finger Lakes region and settled back to the Village of Interlaken. She was employed over 40 years at the Cayuga Auto Parts in Ithaca, NY until her retirement.

Vera was a kind and loving lady. She was always there for those who needed guidance and reassurance. She loved the Lord and enjoyed ministering His words to others. Vera had a great love of flowers. Her gardens gave her great joy and happiness as it did to others that would stop by to visit. She and her long time love, Robert, also enjoyed traveling the world and visited many countries including the Caribbean. Vera will always be remembered for her kind words and gentle ways.

At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours. A private graveside service for immediate family will be held in the spring. The date and time of the service is to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Beechtree Care Center, 318 S. Albany Street, Ithaca, NY 14850. All arrangements are through the Hurlbut Funeral Home, Main Street, Interlaken, NY.

I loved Ms. Vera she was such a love and great woman. I loved hearing all her stories of being a nurse. She had the greatest smile and cutest laugh. I shall always remember her during my time at Beechtree. RIP to a very special angel.

Dear Jeff, and all of Vera's family. We were neighbors for many years and I loved her smile, her friendship, her flowers, and just her as a person. Her passing leaves another hole in my heart, as it does yours. Enjoy your memories of better days, bless you all.

My wonderful sister, Peggy, said it all. The Bond home on Railroad Avenue was pristine, and Mrs. Bond always had a wave, hello, and that lovely smile. They gave chocolate bars, always, for Halloween. May she soar with the angels and rest in peace. With sympathies,

My heart goes out to all of Vera's family, she was one special lady. I met Vera back in 1971. I knew she was special then. I spent many hours talking to her when she was in Beachtree when I went to visit my dad Joe Gulyas. I remember on fathers day Jeff entered my fathers room to say happy fathers day,he said one day a year was fathers day but everyday was mothers day. I will never forget that,it so showed the love he had for Vera. Again my deepest symphony.
