Scott III, William (Bill) S.

William (Bill) S. Scott III of Venice, FL, died Saturday, April 1, 2017. He was 82. Bill was born August 31, 1934, in Ithaca, N.Y., and moved to Florida in 1990. He was a member of Cornell University Class of 1955 and belonged to Chi Phi fraternity. Before retiring Bill was primary owner and President of The Ithaca Agency, Inc., insurance. Bill served on the original ad hoc committee that was instrumental in bringing the hospice organization to Ithaca. He was an active member of the Ithaca Rotary Club, and served as a volunteer in numerous other community organizations. He enjoyed golf and bridge and was a lifelong fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball. In retirement, he earned a BA degree with distinction from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jean Willman Scott of Venice, son Steven M. Scott, of Brooklyn, N.Y., son Gary W. Scott (Barbara) of Seattle, WA, and grandson, Karsten W. Scott (Marie) of Colorado Springs, CO. Bill is also survived by his brother Richard L. Scott (Susan) of Mill Valley, CA. A memorial service was held in Sarasota, FL on April 8, 2017.
