Richard was born December 8, 1954, to Elmer and Mary Alice (Barbour) Friesen. He grew up on their farm near Goessel, KS. He enjoyed the time spent with his dad getting the equipment ready for the next harvest run. After their move to Newton, Richard graduated from Newton High School. Most of his working years were spent at Boeing, Wichita. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on his friends' vehicles. Richard loved growing flowers and vegetables, especially coneflowers and asparagus. Richard married Linda Monk on December 9, 1983. She preceded him in death on December 19, 2005. He then married Karen Cash on February 18, 2012. Survivors include wife Karen Cash Friesen; daughter Kristy (Eleazar) Espinosa and their two daughters and two sons; son Eric Cash (deceased) and Jasmine Moorehouse and their two children; daughter Stephanie Cash; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Cathy and Mike Wills and their children Amanda (Nick) Cowan, and Duane Wills; and many cousins. Preceding Richard in death were his parents, stepfather Delmar Davidson, wife Linda, and Eric Cash.
