Kenyon - Allan F. Geyer, age 84, of Kenyon, MN, died peacefully after a 19-year battle with Parkinson's Disease on August 13, 2025, at The Homestead of Rochester.
Allan was born on May 13, 1941, in Odebolt, IA, the third child of Esther (Obman) and Fay Geyer. When Allan was 13 years old his family moved to the Kenyon, MN, area where he attended school and graduated from Kenyon High School with the class of 1961. Upon graduation, he attended the Austin Vo-Tech where he received his two-year degree in the Carpentry program. Upon graduation from Vo-Tech, he returned to Kenyon to work with Don Broin Construction.
On January 25, 1964, he married Sharon Wilson from Owatonna. They were married at St. John's Lutheran Church in Owatonna and made Kenyon their home where they raised their three children.
Farming was his first love, and he slowly built a milking herd until he could discontinue his off-farm job and farm full time. He was a tireless worker and slowly built up his farm with livestock and crop farming. Allan worked for the community on the Cherry Grove Township Board, was a road maintenance driver for Cherry Grove, and also was on the Council at Dale Lutheran Church for several years. He also spent his leisure time at the Bombay Elevator, talking with other farmers and keeping up on the current prices and weather predictions. Upon retirement from milking cows, he returned to doing carpentry with Gene Maus and Layne Buckingham. Together they did many remodels and new homes in the Kenyon area. He thoroughly enjoyed his carpentry but continued to farm also. He taught his three children the value of hard work and responsibility and they were his helpers on the farm.
In 2006, Allan was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and as the disease progressed, he was forced to retire from farming but continued to live on the farm and rent out his land. He would sit at the window and watch the farming going on and kept current with the farm predictions. He was able to continue to live on the farm until the last four months and always kept up with what was happening on the farm.
His family has always been his greatest joy, and he enjoyed every minute spent with all of them. He loved to have them come to the farm.
Allan is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sharon; his son, Lane (Amy) Geyer of Austin, MN; his daughter, Krissa Holt of Plum City, WI; and his daughter, Brooke (Mick) Delano of Dodge Center, MN.
