Bob Worley Obituary

FORT MILL – Bob Allen Worley passed away on Jan. 27, 2016, at the age of 83.
He was born in Louisville, Ky., on Sept. 12, 1932. Bob grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, with his brother, Bill, and parents, Ben Taylor Worley and Minnie Mae McCawley Worley.
He attended Kent State University, where he lettered in varsity wrestling and was a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity. He graduated with a bachelor of science degree in 1955 and a master of arts degree in 1956, having studied chemistry. Bob had a long and successful career working for several major companies, but spent the bulk of his career as the chemical research director for Springs Mills Industries in South Carolina.
Bob was intelligent, witty and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was well-liked and respected by his friends and colleagues. He enjoyed all sports, but had a particular passion for hunting and fishing. He was entirely devoted to his family and received his most joy out of participating in the family activities of his children and grandchildren. He was loved and will be greatly missed.
Bob is preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Marilyn Sue, who passed away in December 2014, along with his son, Mark, and daughter, Sonya.
He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Jo Worley of Waxhaw, N.C.; son, Scott David Worley (Christina Laura) of Atlantis, Fla.; and grandchildren, Ali, Derek, Katie, Madison, Matthew, Michael, Patrick, Robert and Taylor.
Visitation and funeral services are restricted to immediate family members. Interment will be at Forest Lawn East Cemetery through Heritage Funeral Home in Matthews, N.C.
