Jimmy Funderburk Obituary

Mr. Jimmy Carroll Funderburk, 77, of Lancaster passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at his home.
He was born July 18, 1936. in Lancaster, a son of the late Carroll B. Funderburk and Allie Mae Thompson Funderburk. Mr. Funderburk was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and retired from Lancaster County School District. He loved his horses, loved watching his grandchildren play basketball and enjoyed helping people in the community. Mr. Funderburk played football for Lancaster High School and played in the North-South All Star Football Game.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Funderburk is Saturday, Sept. 21, at 2 p.m. at Zion United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mike Burgess officiating. Burial will be in the Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Funderburk is survived by his wife of 53 years, JoAnn Ingram Funderburk; two daughters, Leslie Jenkins and her husband, Dale, and Leigh Ann Steele and her husband, Wayne, all of Lancaster; and four grandchildren, Brooke Steele, Brandon Steele, Devin Jenkins and Dylan Jenkins.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 20, at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home, 3198 Pink Plyler Road, Lancaster.
Memorial contributions may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, 1665 Zion Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
