David Leaton Richardson

David Leaton Richardson, age 57 of Murray, KY, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.

He was born March 21, 1957 at the 7th US Army Hospital in Augsburg, Germany, to Jim Richardson and the late Hilda Richardson. David is also preceded in death by his stepmother, Patricia Hancock Richardson.

David was an operations manager for the Murray Electric System. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Murray, KY, where he helped develop and operate the media video ministry. He was a 1975 graduate of Northwest High School in Clarksville, TN, where he was a standout fullback on the football team. He attended East Tennessee State College on a football scholarship until a knee injury ended his football career.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 1 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, 503 Maple Street, Murray, KY 42071, with Dr. Rick C. Dye officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.

In addition to his father, David is survived by his son, Sam Richardson of Murray, KY; daughter, Hannah Richardson of Murray, KY; brother, Andy (Tara) Richardson of Old Hickory, TN; special friend, Kathy Outland McNutt of Murray, KY; the mother of his two children, Donna Jones Richardson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Media Ministry at First United Methodist Church in Murray, KY.
