I was honored to have had SMG Smeder as one of my ROTC instructors at the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1973-4. His strength of character and attention to detail was only matched by his devotion to duty. He quietly lived his life in a fashion that others wanted to emulate. Many soldiers both enlisted and officers were trained and influenced by SMG Smeder. Psalms 91.
