Greg was born July 28, 1948, in Clarksville, TN, to the late Robert "Butch" Walker and Mildred Darnell Walker. He was a member of the APSU Hall of Fame Committee, past Vice President of the Clarksville American Little League at 19 years of age, and past President of the Clarksville Softball League and USSSA Commissioner. Greg was a former owner and partner of 1400 AM, 105.1 FM, and 1030 AM radio stations.

Greg is survived by his wife of nearly 35 years, Pat Minniehan Walker; son, Clete Walker; brother, Barry Walker; and a host of cousins and dear friends that he loved immensely.

Greg was our play-by-play announcer the 2 years I was with Dave Loos on his basketball staff at APSU from 1999-2001. I remember fondly having him with us on road trips throughout the OVC and to such places as Alaska and Las Vegas. I remember giving him a piece of the net after we won the Top of the World Championship in Alaska and how moved he was that the team wanted him to share in that.
He loved the Govs and he felt the pain right right along with the players, coaches and fans when the referees ripped the OVC title and an NCAA berth away from us on a terrible goal-tending call. Greg's call of that game is legendary and to this day lives on each year on ESPN. He was one of the best and will be remembered fondly by the Gillespie family. RIP, Greg and our condolences to Pat and Clete.

Pat and Clete,
Our very special friend has hit the major leagues! He is in heaven with Jesus and you can't get better than that! We are going to miss him more than can be imagined. Friendship that goes as far back as first grade has created a lifetime of memories. So blessed to have known him, and both of you.

My heart felt sympathy and condolences are extended to Pat, Clete , Barry, his relatives and friends.
Mercy.....Greg was such a friend to many and will be sadly missed by those who knew him. He is now together with his beloved cousin "The Mick" telling outrageously funny stories, laughing and smiling down on all.
May God cradle Greg in the palms of His hands for all Eternity.
Love You Brother,
