Jim Brandon Obituary

Jim Brandon

Jim Brandon of Wilmington, NC, formerly of Clarksville, TN, crossed the finish line in his 66th year to meet his Heavenly Father on May 30, 2015 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC after a valiant two and a half year battle with lung cancer.

His memory is cherished by his loving and devoted wife; children and grandchildren who were by his side every step of the way: wife and love of 45 years, Kathy Schmittou Brandon; daughter, Kelly Brandon Sebes (Marc); son, Jay Brandon; grandson, Brandon Sebes and granddaughter, Clarissa Sebes all of NC.

Jim was born on December 20, 1948 in Waverly, TN to William and Lorene Brandon who are all now joyfully reunited along with other loved ones who predeceased him.

He is also survived by his brother, William Brandon, Jr.; sister, Lisa Brandon; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was a loving and dedicated son, brother, husband, Dad, GranDad, friend, co-worker and employer.

You might have known him as a student at Norman Smith Elementary School, Howell School, Greenwood Jr High School, John Overton High School, Memphis State University, APSU or in the workplace at Jack Saunders Motor Co, Acme Boot Co., WABD/Q108, Brandon Toyota or worshipping his Lord at Cumberland Presbyterian and First Baptist churches. He was a talented self-taught craftsman with a deep love of family, sailing, tennis and helping others.

Visitation with the family is at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home from 11 a.m. til 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 6th followed by a celebration of life service at 2 p.m. with Minister Pat Van Dyke officiating.

Pallbearers are Butch Abernathy, John Brandon, Marvin Hines, Johnny Meacham, Tom Moylan, Bob Palmer, Larry Schmittou, Lionel Senseney, Ed Sneed, Jr, Joe Sykes and Kent Yates. Honorary Pallbearers will be his Clarksville Tennis Association friends and teammates.

I just wanted to pass along my condolences to Jim's family. We worked together many years ago in radio and then at the dealership. He was a fine man, good businessman, and friend. I have fond memories of our friendship.

Kathy, we did not know each other, but I played tennis with Jim for many years. All of us in the tennis community enjoyed his company on the court and he certainly will be missed. You and your family are in our prayers.
