SSG (Ret) Randy Ray Rood, age 66, passed away at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Tuesday, August 23, 2016.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Bethel United Methodist Church with Pastor Apelu Poe officiating. Burial will follow at Sango Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the hour of service on Sunday at the church.

Randy was born on December 17, 1949 in Norfolk, Nebraska, to Kenneth Rood and Margie Jones. He grew up in Pilger, Nebraska and attended Pilger High School before graduating in 1968. Following graduation, Randy bravely joined the U.S. Army in 1969. He then retired as SSG 20 years later. He continued his career as a Software Consultant and Network Administrator. He attended and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Randy married Janet Taylor Rood who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his son, Christopher Rood; daughter, Jennifer Miller and her husband Billy; brother, K. Neil Rood and his wife Roslyn; sister, JoAnn Rood; 9 grandchildren.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 3180 Fort Campbell Blvd. Clarksville, TN 37042.
