JERNIGAN, 80

AUSTIN, TX. - Carlene Jernigan, 80, passed away July 5, 2015, at Christopher House Hospice, Austin, TX, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Carlene was raised in Auburndale, FL, by her parents Tom and Virgie Bolin, along with her sister Patsy. She married the love of her life, Donald Jernigan of Wauchula, FL, on August 4, 1954, and joined him at Lakenheath Air Base, England. Together they traveled extensively throughout his U.S. Air Force career. They have called Cedar Park, TX, home since 2004. Carlene was known for her love of dancing, singing and playful humor. She was an avid supporter of the St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, Montana.
Amongst friends and family, Carlene's love for her dogs was legend. Carlene was a homemaker and a beloved wife of Donald for 60 years. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and her kindness and compassion leaves an imprint on so many souls. She gained strength and guidance from the Joel Osteen ministry.
Carlene is missed and survived by her husband Lt. Col. Donald E. Jernigan, USAF Ret., her sister Patsy Whatley, her daughters Cristy Bloomingdale, Cindy Phillips and Cheryl Bailey (John), her grandchildren Nicholas Bloomingdale, Katie Garayoa (Brian), Scott Phillips, 1st Lt. USMC Connor Bailey, (Lauren), Courtney Phillips and her beloved dog Mijo.
Services were private. Carlene has been cremated and her final resting place will be the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
