LAKELAND - Carol Ratchford Asbill, 51, of Lakeland, FL, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 22, 2015.
A native of Aiken, SC, Carol was a graduate of Aiken High School and Clemson University. She spent the majority of her career at Publix Super Markets, ultimately as Manager of Associate Services.
Known for her servant's heart, Carol was actively involved in numerous civic organizations, including the United Way of Central Florida, the Alliance for Independence, and the Achievement Academy.
Carol is survived by her husband Christopher L. Asbill, and two sons Reid Noah, Cincinnati, OH, and Mark Noah, a student at University of Central Florida in Orlando. She is also survived by her parents, Anita and Dan Ratchford, Aiken, SC; sister Dana Thrash (Dave), Charlotte, NC; brother Andy Ratchford (Kelly), of Moraga, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, February 27, at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Lakeland, FL, followed by a reception in the Welcome Center. Memorial gifts may be made to Alliance for Independence, 1038 Sunshine Drive East, Lakeland, FL, 33801, ( www.afi-fl.org ). Condolences may be sent to the family at

So difficult to process this loss...Carol was a one of a kind. It is evident in reading through the posts how truely amazing Carol was, how many people she influenced how she touched so many hearts. I, personally, am so grateful for having known Carol. She became a dear friend and mentor during the short time we worked together. I will never forget you Carol and you will always be an inspiration...rest in peace until we meet again.
I pray that God will grant Carol's family with peace and understanding as they travel through the days, months and even years ahead.
