Dear Tee (...never understood why I called you that, but you answered to it):
You were the best babysitter! You started babysitting me when I was 5 years old. I have many fond memories that I’ll forever cherish: You gave me my first “job” - I helped you change (and clean) the diapers (...not pampers) of the other children you kept; I enjoyed watching the Young & The Restless and All My Children (soap operas) with you; You and Mr. Jones encouraged me to read - so I started reading the comic strips, Section B and the obituaries in the Lakeland Ledger; I helped dig for worms out of the ground so Mr. Jones could use them as bait for fishing.
I will miss our conversations about EVERYTHING (e.g., your family, my family, world/local events, the funny things I did as child while I was in your care, etc.)! I thank God that you still had a sharp mind (even at 95)! I loved your infectious laughter & humor - you kept me laughing (...I think I inherited my animation from you)! I always felt at peace around you. I admired your contentment with and gratefulness for the “simple things” in life and your unwavering faith in God.
THANK YOU for your concern (...checking on me: asking Mama “How’s My Girl?!” and insisting that Tiny would call me occasionally so you and I could talk), cards, gifts, support, love and nightly prayers throughout my life!
Selfishly I thought you would live forever! So, it still seems surreal that you are gone! I must admit, it was a bittersweet day when you decided to leave (...my 50th Birthday), but I guess it was yet another way to let me know that you were still thinking of me!
You have left an indelible mark on my heart and my life is better because you were a part of it!
Forever Ya’ Girl,
Trena
