Delbert Parsons Obituary
PARSONS Sr.
LAKELAND - On Saturday, April 17, 2021, Delbert 'Del' Parsons, Sr., loving husband and father of three children, entered God's House at the age of 85. Del was born on September 1, 1935 in El Dorado, Kansas to Fred and Virginia (Lewis) Parsons. He served 20 years in the US Air Force. In July 1957, he married Una Faye Gatewood. They raised two daughters and one son. They spent 55 wonderful years together enjoying many adventures, six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren before Faye's death in 2013. Del married Ruth (Davis) Tharp in September 2014. He then had the pleasure of loving six more great grandchildren, six step grandchildren, and nine step great grandchildren. Del had a passion for painting landscapes, but most especially loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus. He was a member and deacon of Lakes Church in Lakeland, FL. Del expressed his faith through his work at the Compassion House ministering to those in need.
Del was preceded in death by his father, Fred, his mother, Virginia and his first wife, Faye. He is survived by his wife, Ruthe, his three children, Cheryl (Larry) Appel, Tina (Scott) Sommer, and Del (Tami) Parsons Jr., step children, Mike (Jean) Tharp, Tim (Tammy) Tharp, Scott (Kristy) Tharp, his grandchildren, great grandchildren, four siblings and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on May 15, 2021 at First Baptist Church on 4531 US-17, Bowling Green, FL at 10 a.m. If desired, flowers or donations may be sent to the church.
