LAKE WALES - Born Feb. 26, 1931, died March 14, 2011. Edward Raymond Huber passed away Monday, March 14, 2011 at Heart of Florida Hospital of heart failure.
Born February 26, 1931 in Burt, Michigan. He was 80 years of age. He married Ethel (Jackie) Jaap on September 22, 1951 and she survives him.
He was a resident of Saginaw Township, Mich-igan most of his life, until his retirement from State Farm Insurance after 24 years of service. After retirement, he made Lake Wales, Florida his home. He served in the Army during the Korean War, with an honorable discharge.
Edward was a volunteer firefighter in Saginaw Township for over 25 years, where he was an assistant fire chief for a number of years. He was also a member of Hope Presbyterian Church, The Masonic Lodge and The American Legion. Edward lived an active life and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Surviving besides his wife are sons Dennis (Linda) Huber, Gary (Mara) Huber, and daughter Jackie (John) Remington, seven grandchildren, Heather (Joel) David, Mikelle (Mike) Copella, Courtney Huber, Nichole Huber, Garrett Huber, Tyler Remington, Tom Syring and great grand daughter Caitlan Syring. Also surviving two brothers, Henry Huber of Chesaning, MI and Dale (Joan) Stevens of Orchard Lake, MI., two sisters Regina (Gene) Sanders of Montrose, MI and Mary Maitland of Clio, MI, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Margaret (Stevens) Huber, and brothers Richard, Donald, Albert, John, and Bobby and sister Kathryn.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope Presbyterian Church in Winter Haven, Florida. A Memorial celebration will be held for family and friends on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 1 PM at The Tower Wood Community Center in Lake Wales on US 27 with Pastor Dr. Tom E. McGrath officiating.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Uncle Ed. Nothing but good memories of this handsome man. One memory that stands out is him standing knee deep in Higgins lake smiling at Dennis (or Gary) as he pulled away from the dock in his new boat (I think it was a Sea Ray) and laughing about how much money he was pouring into the water. What a nice man he was, full of joy and laughter. You will be missed Uncle Ed.
