WINTER HAVEN - Frances Whidden, 71, of Winter Haven, died Dec. 31, 2007 at her home due to heart failure.
Born June 22, 1936 in Tarrytown, FL. She worked at the Winter Haven Hospital for 10 years as a financial advisor. She was a member of Village Church of God and devoted her life to her church. She enjoyed painting, writing poetry and songs.
She is preceded by her husband, Alton Whidden. Survivors include her children, Diane Stamey, Auburndale, FL, Brian Whidden, Carlinville, IL, Richard Whidden, Thomasville, GA, and Christopher Whidden, Winter Haven, FL.; brothers, William "Bill" Franklin, Tallahassee, FL, and David Franklin, Jasper, FL.; sister, Eloise Green, Perry, FL.; 6 grandsons and 3 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008 between 6-8pm at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Winter Haven. Funeral service Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, 2pm at Village Church of God.
