AUBURNDALE - Mr. Philip McCoy a resident of Auburndale passed away Saturday Nov. 24, 2018.
Mr. McCoy was born Dec. 16, 1954 in Steele, Alabama to Harrison and Lena Mae (Hyatt) McCoy. He was a Auburndale resident, a hairdresser and he was of Catholic faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Norris McCoy, Randy McCoy, and sisters Donnis Pierce, Linda Spivey, all of Auburndale. Philip is survived by sisters Avie Harrell of Seattle, Judi (Dick) DeAngelis of Winter Haven and Katherine (Bernie) Beckman of Auburndale, brothers Larry McCoy and Jimmy (Sheila) McCoy, of Auburndale.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Tues. Dec. 4, 2018 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 532 Ave. M NW, Winter Haven, FL, 33881 at the chapel.

Philip was more than just my friend, he was my brother. 38 years ago, we met in his salon and became best friends. Philip always knew my hair and what it could and could not do. If I came in with an unrealistic idea for my hair, he would explain why it wouldn't work with my hair type and suggest another style. He aced it everytime. I soon learned that all I had to do is show up for my appointment, take a seat and allow Philip to work his magic.
My heart aches, knowing our friendship here on earth has come to an end but I know you're no longer weak and in pain and we'll be together again someday On Eagle's Wing
