LAKELAND - Tara Ann Matthews, age 25, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 28, 2010 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family from a genetic disorder.
She was born October 3, 1985 in Lakeland. Tara was a graduate of Doris Sander School. She will be remembered for her ability to touch the hearts of all who knew and loved her. As a child she enjoyed hunting & barrel racing on her pony "Red". She attended Victory Assembly of God, Lakeland. Tara's family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers, support and care giving throughout her life.
Tara is preceded in death by her Grandpa Larry T. Matthews. She is survived by her father & mother Timothy and Rhonda Matthews; sister Hope Matthews; paternal great grandmother Mary Matthews, Grandma Fay Matthews; maternal great grandmother Mae Belle Walker; Granny Shirley Bassford & Papa Robert (Bobby) Bassford.
Funeral Service 11:00 AM Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Victory Assembly of God Church, Lakeland. Visitation 10-11 AM at church. Interment in Socrum Cemetery, Lakeland. Online condolences at davidrussellfuneralhome.com

So sorry to read in the paper of Tara's passing. Does not seem like 25 years ago, and I will never forget when Larry came into our offices to tell us the situation with Tara. We were all so sorry she had to have surgery at such a young age. I know this is a very sad time for your family, but I am pleased you had so many "good-years" with Tara. Most Sincerely, Barbara Hart

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family during this difficult time. God saw Tara getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around her and whispered "come to me." With tearful eyes you watched her, and saw her pass away. Although you loved her dearly, you could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke your hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

Tara was just so loving a child when I work with her in school years ago.I can remember when she would sing & skip around the school& play ground ,She would give everyone a sweet look, and when she would sing Old McDonolds she really love to sing.May God Bless her .He sure Bless us to know Tara!Dianna
