ARTURO QUINTANILLA Obituary

ARTURO QUINTANILLA
ALAMO - Arturo Quintanilla, 67, passed Saturday, June 19, 2010, at his home in Alamo. Arturo was born August 31, 1942, in Donna, to Alfredo Quintanilla, Sr. (+) and Rosa V. Quintanilla(+). He was a Veteran of the National Guard, where he served for 8 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Antonio Quintanilla, Alfredo Quintanilla, Jr. and four sisters, Melida "Nina" Quintanilla, Guadalupe "Lupe" Quintanilla, Maria "Mia" Quintanilla and Josefa "Chepa" Alvarez.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Minerva R. Quintanilla, three daughters, Erika Quintanilla, Aissa Quintanilla and Karla Q. (Orlando) Garcia of Edinburg, two grandchildren, Michael, whom he called "Michaelangelo" and Michelle, whom he called "Michelle my Belle". When Orlando became part of our family in 2000 Dad welcomed him not as a Son in Law, but as his son. He loved Orlando very much for loving his daughter Karla and his grandchildren, Michael and Michelle unconditionally and for being the best son.
Michael and Michelle were his love and adoration. They referred to Grandpa as "Cuate" because Michael duplicated everything that his Grandfather would do. He loved spending as much time as possible with his two grandchildren and they shared so many treasured moments together that they will carry with them forever.
Arturo was a very hardworking, selfless, loving man who would give the shirt off his back to help anyone who needed it. Everyone who knew Dad knew him to be an avid sports fan and a person who would do everything for his family.
Dad was such a loving and wonderful person that Mom tells everyone how he got a package deal when he married her because he accepted his Mother in Law, Chala "Ama" as we all call her, not as his Mother in Law, but as his other Mother. There were never an y cross words between them. She was just a member of our family. We did everything together.
Also surving are two brothers, Alberto "Beto" (Sofia) Quintanilla of California, Armando "Mando" (Mary) Quintanilla of McAllen and two sisters, Marina Quintanilla of Donna and Eliza "Chacha" (Cuco +) Lozano of Lewisville, a sister in law, Elda Quintanilla of Donna and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5413 S. McColl Road, McAllen, TX 78539.
Dad, Cuate, we love you very much and we will miss you. Dad will continue to live in his family's heart and memories forever and he will always be loved by all who knew him.

On this very day, June 19th, in the midst of my daughters 12th birthday party, your dad and husband came to mind, I wondered how he was doing and prayed for his strength. Sometimes I feel i have become connected to my patients because they will never be forgotten. My heart weeps and wishes for miracles. Thank you for teaching me what true love is among families. "Thank you for the candies and pretzels you gave me when you knew my lunch time was very limited. Your patience never wore out and you always made me smile. My heart goes out to all of you. He will never be forgotten.....Aimee Trejo, RN

To the Quintanilla family, I am sorry for your loss. Arturo was a friendly and kind person, always ready for a conversation. We grew up being neighbors and always enjoyed living next door to them. He was always full of life and he loved to fish and ofcourse to follow high school football. Arturo will be missed but he is now in a much better place. Our prayers are with you all, from the Perez Family.

Here was a man who lived every day of his life living the truth of Jesus not through words but through his actions of showing nothing but love and mercy with anyone and anywhere he went! Tio was and continues to be an inspiration to me and to my closest friends that have come to know Tio through the stories I've told of a great man with a great sense of humor and human kindness. Thank you Tia, Erika, Aissa, & Karla for anything and everything you've done for me and my family. We love you dearly. And take comfort in that now you have someone who will be able to literally whiper your names in prayer into the ears of our friend and savior, Jesus!

I hope the Good Lord is with his family and helps them overcome this sad moment. I knew Arturo many years ago and he was always helpful since I met him. I am sure he is now with the Good Lord.
