David Rountree Obituary

DAVID NEAL ROUNTREE
ALAMO - David Rountree, 80, died Monday, August 4, 2008, at his residence.
Mr. Rountree worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 35 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Communication Workers of America for 35 years. He had been very involved in coaching both baseball and football, and enjoyed working in that capacity with local kids. Mr. Rountree was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in San Juan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, in 1999.
Survivors include his son, David Steven Rountree of St Louis, MO; two daughters, Paula Marie Tilton of Corpus Christi and Linda Ann Flaherty of Houston; a sister, Lillian Tanner of San Juan and 5 grandchildren, Michelle, Eric, Wesley, Jonathan and Sarah.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 7 p.m., with family to be present to greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., at Skinner Silva Funeral Home, located at 706 W. Sam Houston in Pharr. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2008, at the 1st Baptist Church in San Juan, with Rev. Michael Poindexter officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The 1st Baptist Church, located at 1001 S. Nebraska, San Juan, TX 78589, or to the charity of your choice.
Skinner Silva Funeral Home in Pharr is in charge of arrangements.

Our deepest sympathies to Lillian, Steven, Paula, and Linda on Dave's passing. He was just like an uncle to me growing up in San Juan. I'll always treasure our time together and phone calls through the years. Our love and prayers to all - Sandy (Moran) and Jack Farinelli.
