He was Coach Vela to me but to the three sons he was Dad, one of the highest callings. I celebrate his life and the many lives he touched, but feel sorrow at his passing. Most of all he was an encourager of men. He will always be Coach to me and my favorite coach. Blessings and comfort to the family!

Coach Vela was a dear friend and will be missed tremendously by all who knew him. He never missed an opportunity to make a young coach feel better about himself by complimenting them and just being positive. Coach Vela is just one of those persons that left an indelible mark on many of us that knew him.
