She will be dearly missed by her only surviving sister, Maria Delia Valdez-Ramirez of Weslaco, and numerous nieces and nephews. Our mother was a very special, talented, dedicated and a humble lady of great faith. Her favorite pastimes were, sewing, quilting, embroidering, needlepoint, and gardening. Momma was a master seamstress in Elsa and a superb quilter. She worked so hard and just loved what she did. She was Edcouch-Elsa's high School uniform seamstress for many years. She made almost every cheerleading and twirler uniforms. She sewed beautifully for her girls, and always sent them to school with a wonderful homemade lunch. She mended and altered clothes to so many family members and friends from all over. Her quilting was so beautiful, unique and just superb. She sewed by hand, hundreds and hundreds of beautiful quilts and baby quilt ensembles as colorful as her garden and of every unique design drawn by hand. Mom embroidered through her last months. Needlepointing edging on towels, dishcloths and anything she could get her needle on. Her embroidery was always described as a "talk piece". She has left us all with examples of strength, dedication, devotion, "be tough", and an enormous amount of love. Mom's teachings and memories will forever live in our hearts. Our family wishes to extend our gratitude to all who cared for mom in the medical field. Thank you, Dr. Pedro McDougal and staff of Weslaco.
