GEORGE KENNETH HEMPHILL, JR. February 20, 1936 – January 15, 2015 George Kenneth Hemphill Jr. died Jan. 15 of age related causes at age 78. He was born Feb. 20, 1936 in Pawhuska, OK to George and Elva Hemphill and had two younger brothers, Lewis and Robert. He married Jean Millhollen in 1955 and was later married to Marlene Petersen in 1967 and Bess Pless in 1992. He and Bess lived together in Harlingen, TX until Bess died in 2007. He is survived by his son Richard, daughter Kathryn, stepsons Jamey and Greg Petersen, grandchildren Jennifer and Jeffrey Hemphill, and brother Louis Hemphill. His youngest brother Robert preceded him in death in 1978. George served in the Air Force for two years where he was a pilot. He was a successful businessman in the Eugene area and member of the Jaycees and Rotary Club. George loved to square dance and belonged to communities in Texas and Oregon. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at 2:30 PM on Jan. 22 at Heritage Village (2105 S. Cynthia Street, McAllen, TX). George will be laid to rest alongside his parents and brother Robert in Eugene, OR.
