GRACIELA CASAS SANCHEZ
MISSION - Graciela Casas Sanchez , a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend passed away on April 2, 2012 at the Comfort House in McAllen, Texas. Graciela, daughter of Abelardo and Elfida Casas was born on April 27, 1959 in Mission, TX. She attended Mission Schools until high school graduation and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education and Masters Degree in Reading from the University of Texas at Pan American. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Delta Sorority. Graciela, known as "Gracie" to her family and friends taught with the Mission CISD for 29 years. Most of her professional life was spent teaching at Castro Elementary School. Gracie was most admired for her unwavering strength especially as she fought her illness, as well as for her loving and mild manners with all those that she encountered in her life. Her focus remained on her faith and love of family, especially her two children. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Mission her entire life.
Gracie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Basilio and Guadalupe Casas, and Luis and Macaria C Olivarez, her mother, Elfida Casas, and a brother, Homero Casas. She is survived by her beloved children Marcos and Judith, her dearly loved father, Abelardo Casas, brothers Abelardo, Jr. Francisco and Luis Casas and well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 PM on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission with a rosary recitation at 7p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Monday, April 9, at 12 P.M. . Burial will follow at Laurel Hills Cemetery in Mission, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Abelardo Casas Jr, Omar Zamora, Javier Ramon Garcia, Frank David Casas, Richard Martinez, Luis Casas, Ricardo Casas, and Gabby Rodriguez. Honorary Pallbearers are Francisco Casas, Cris Bermea, Irene Ramos, Gloria Perez, Estela Hernandez, Tina Zamora and Carmen Fernandez.
The family would like to express special thanks to her faithful friends Cris Bermea and Irene Abbott for their continued love and care as well as to the Comfort House in McAllen.
Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Funeral Home of Mission.
