McAllen - Jose Leonides "Pepe" Flores, affectionately known as "Cuate," passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his devoted children. He was born on February 19, 1939, in Los Ebanos, Texas, to Jose and Jesusa Flores. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rose Marie Flores; his parents; his twin brother, Antonio Flores; his sisters Aida De La Garza, Estella Zamora, and Irma Lopez; and his cherished dogs, Tyner and Guero. Mr. Flores was known for his warm nature, ability to engage in conversation with anyone, and genuine interest in the lives of those around him. He dedicated more than 60 years to the auto parts industry, working at Pete's Auto Supply in Mission, Jimmy Hill, Westside Auto Parts, and Burton Auto Supply. His exceptional memory for part numbers and commitment to customer service earned him the respect and friendship of many. A lifelong Dallas Cowboys supporter, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time with family, and engaging in friendly games of cards. He approached life with humor, resilience, and an enduring optimism that will be deeply missed. He is survived by his children: Jose Leonides (Patricia) Flores III, Romie (Tracey Hamilton) Gomez, Michael R. (Rosario) Gomez, Pamela A. (Edward Pequeno) Gomez, and Sandra J. (Lawrence) Whalen; his grandchildren Michael Flores, Gina Flores, Omar Javier De La Rosa, Andres Gomez, Edward J. Pequeno, Lauren Whalen, Evan Gomez, and Michael A. Pequeno; and his great-grandchild Omar Xavier De La Rosa. He also leaves behind his sisters Olga Mendiola and Lala Garcia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to his caregivers Yolanda, Hortencia, and Maria, along with Nurse Patty Torres of Amara Hospice Care, for their compassion and dedication. Mr. Flores's life was defined by hard work, love of family, and a spirit of generosity. His loved ones take comfort in knowing he is reunited with his wife, his brother, and his loyal dogs. A visitation and rosary will be held at Kreidler Funeral Home on Sunday, August 17, at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, August 18, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church at 9:00 a.m., followed by burial at Valley Memorial Cemetery.
