Leonel Munoz

McAllen - la Victoria - Los Ebanos- Leonel Munoz., age 66, was born on Nov 16, 1957, in Mission TX, to Paulino and Celia Munoz of Los Ebanos, TX. He passed away Nov 18, 2023, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. He is preceded in death by his Parents Paulino Munoz Sr, Celia Cantu Munoz as well as seven siblings; Sergio, Paulino, Jorge, Gerardo, Domingo, Alejandro, Maria Magdalena Munoz. He is survived by his caring and devoted wife Yolanda Munoz; his eight children; Leonel Alejandro, Denise Lynett (Angelo) Eric Lee, Leonel Domingo (Andrea, Lisa M, Linda (Fernando), Yvonne (Joe), Melinda Munoz; his two brothers Ruben D, and Armando Munoz and one sister Rosaura Munoz; also surviving him are 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Leonel worked at Varmecan Industries for 20 years reaching Forman status before retiring. He would operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers and cranes. He traveled to Terlingua where he would work certain times out of the year to assist in projects. As a young man, Leonel was a star football player who loved to dance, work out, work on cars, and train animals. He was a handyman who loved classic muscle cars and trucks. Dancing was one of his favorite past times as he would dance weekends in La Lomita with his wife. We loved Westerns and sci-fi movies. Leonel was a part-time bodybuilder who enjoyed lifting weights and running. He enjoyed cooking and sharing with others. He loved all his family, and all of his children and always had a smile on his face. Leonel died at Rio Grande Regional Hospital on Nov 18, 2023. Services will be held Friday, November 24, 2023, in Sanchez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City. A viewing will be held Saturday at Holy Family Church in La Grulla at 10 am. Burial will be held in Ruben Solis Cemetery in La Grulla, November 25, 2023.
