Oscar Rivas Obituary
Oscar attended McAllen Memorial High School, class of 1990, and Texas State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Arts and Science. Oscar was a goal-oriented businessman, founder of OHR Reality where he was a broker in commercial real estate for Austin, San Antonio and Houston. His personality was displayed in his quiet self-confidence and calm demeanor that gained him many friends. His awareness of current events, politics, and sports also contributed to his ability to work with business associates and friends.
Oscar's personality also enhanced his relationship with his daughter, Sophia, who was the center of his world. They shared a father-daughter relationship that was mutually close, trusting, and loving. She was the most important person in his life.
Family and friends were the focal points of Oscar's life. Whether it was holidays, celebrations or sports, his witty humor always added to the festivities. He will be missed by all those who knew him and loved him.
Visitation will be Wed., August 9, 2023 from 6-8pm, with a rosary at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug 10, at Our Lady of Sorrows. Burial will be at 12:00 at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Dearest Oscar - I'll cherish the time I ran into you at Landon & Michelle's a few years back. You were as witty and hilarious as ever. Your big bear hugs will remain with me always and I know you'll have everyone in stitches up in heaven with your incredible sense of humor and your big smile. I was just telling a friend that we were the few remaining stragglers from McAllen's first GT classes who made it all the way through to the end. He asked me if you were smart. I told him you were both incredibly smart and funny. We battled HS Geometry in 8th grade and then Geometry Honors (further agonizing us) in 9th grade, all the way through Trig & Pre-Cal together senior year, sitting side by side with each retest we had to take just to pass with an 80. Math was destroying us back then. Smh. I want to remember you just as you looked the last time I saw you so I won't be at your service. I'd be terribly embarrassed if anyone sees me crying. I know you understand. I love you, friend, and I hope we get to see each other again. I'll treat you to Starbucks this time. Rest in peace, sweet boy. - Missy
