RICARDO RECIO Obituary

RICARDO E. RECIO RIO GRANDE CITY - Ricardo E. Recio, 65, made his way home to the Lord on Wednesday, September 3, 2014. He was born September 10, 1948 in Rio Grande City, Texas to Eusebio G. and Hermila T. Recio. He was married to Elia Ramirez Recio for 46 years and they had three daughters, Patsy (Rey) Ramirez, Clarissa (Alonzo) Ibañez & Jessica (Erick) Torres. He was blessed with ten grandchildren: Erin, Devin, Derek, Elayna, Carisa, Carina, Alan, Sophie, Erick Jr., & Joaquin. He was preceded in death by his father, Eusebio G. Recio and his nephew Sergio Luis Recio. Aside from his mother, he is also survived by his two brothers, Jorge (Mary) Recio and David (Tina) Recio and one sister, Gracie Recio-Lieber as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was a man that was very proud of his family and their accomplishments. His constant guidance and support helped shape our lives. He served as a member of the Rio Grande City Jaycees, American Legion, and served as the Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #2597 from 1979 – 82. He began his career in education as a secondary math teacher and eventually served as an assistant principal and principal at all three levels. Before retirement, he was a district administrator who continued to avidly partake in helping students in the Rio Grande City C.I.S.D. He was well known and respected by all of the students, staff, and colleagues he proudly taught and led during his 42 years in education. His sincerity and willingness to lend a helping hand made him a friend to all. Our father's death left a gaping hole in our hearts, but a lifetime of memories that will always be treasured. The Recio Family would like to thank Dr. Jose Vasquez, his staff, and all caregivers at the Rio Grande City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and PaxVilla Hospice. Visitation started on Thursday, September 04, 2014 from 2:00pm - 9:00pm with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue today Friday, September 05, 2014 from 9:00am -2:30pm. His Mass will be today, 3:00pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Los Garcia. Burial will follow at Rio Grande City Cemetery in Rio Grande City, Texas. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sanchez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City. Sign the guest book at www.themonitor.com/obituaries

Mrs. Recio and Family, I heard about Ricardo, and it is hard to believe that he has gone with the LORD. I met him in the Army Reserves in McAllen & Rio Grande City, and he was one that would always welcome someone new into the unit. We became friends in the Reserves and off the Reserves. He was always a gentleman, always willing to help! I had thought of him, not knowing he was ill, maybe I should have gone to look for him, but didn't. I will always remember him, whenever I hear the name Rio Grande City! I know he is with the LORD! I will pray that the LORD will comfort you and the family, and his friends, and provide the best for all of you, because, I know that Ricardo would do the same! GOD bless you all, "1 John 4:4".

So sorry to hear about Ricardo's passing. When I asked my wife, Jan, if she remembered cousin Ricardo, her response was..."of course...how could you forget someone like him who made everyone feel comfortable and put a smile with his feelings". I could not have described Ricardo any better. He will be missed...but remembered. Bob/Jan Viglini
