RUBEN FLORES, JR.
WESLACO- Ruben Flores, Jr., 71 entered into eternal rest with our Lord on Tuesday March 13, 2007 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco.
He was born on October 5, 1935 in Los Ebanos, TX to Ruben Flores, Sr. and Genoveva Flores. He graduated from La Joya High school then he graduated from Gradwall Institute of medical technology in St. Louis Missouri. He joined the U.S. Army in 1959 and he completed a tour of duty during the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1962. He returned to work at State Chest Hospital in Harlingen. It was there he met the love of his life, Ermelinda Correa. They married May 30, 1962 in Fort Gordon, Georgia. They moved to Midwest City, Oklahoma where their daughter Arcadia Minerva was born. They moved to Wetumka, Oklahoma where their son Ruben Flores, III was born. He loved his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren and he loved to calf rope, ride horses, deer hunt. He loved his farm, and the out doors. He lead by example and his few spoken words, and yet set values. He was loved by many. He is survived by his loving wife Ermelinda Flores of 44 years of marriage from Weslaco, one son Ruben Flores, III and wife Delia of Weslaco, one daughter Arcadia M. Flores Cassidy and husband Joseph of Harlingen, two sisters Margarita Resendez and husband Joe of Pharr, Rosa Alicia Valdez and husband Roosevelt of Edinburg. Grandchildren David Mathew Morin, Ruben G. Flores IV, Ryan Lee Flores, Melinda Nicole Flores. Two great-grandchildren Ariana Elizabeth Morin, Gabriela Nicole Morin.
Visitation will be today Friday March 16, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday March 17, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsa.
Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
Arrangements are under the direction of Guerra Funeral Home of ELSA.
