SUSAN STROHMEYER Obituary

SUSAN MARY STROHMEYER A beautiful soprano voice was forever silenced when Susan Mary Strohmeyer entered eternal life on April 4, 2013. Susan was born and spent her early life in McAllen. After high school she entered the Religious Sisters of Mercy based in St. Louis, Missouri. Even though she left the order fourteen years later, her deep faith took root during those years, and permeated the rest of her life At that point, Susan became an earth science middle school teacher in San Antonio. Upon retirement Susan moved back to McAllen and was involved at first in Habitat for Humanity, and then the Community Hope Housing Project. Her final retirement came in 2007. Susan is survived by her brothers, David and Keevin, and sisters, Shayla Ebner, and Marjorie Rados. Her goddaughter Valerie Toala, and numerous other nieces and nephews are also left to cherish Susan's memory. Susan was predeceased by her parents George Sr. and Elizabeth as well as brother, George, Jr and sisters, Rita Grant, Betty Bauer, and Sr. Marian, RSM. A special thank you to the nurses and staff at Briarcliff Nursing Center, Gracia Hospice Care, the RGV Sisters of Mercy, and Susan's Holy Spirit "faith" family. Your care and concern brought Susan comfort and great joy. A celebration of Susan's life will take place at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 8 am on Monday, April 15, 2013. Inurnment in Roselawn Cemetery will take place at a later date.
