Timothy Dale Gearhart

1947 - 2024

McAllen - Timothy Dale Gearhart moved on to his heavenly home on August 24, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born May 23, 1947 to W.W. and Goldie Gearhart in McAllen, Texas. While attending McAllen High School, he owned and operated Tim's Coin Shop on 15th Street in downtown McAllen. He began his banking career at the First State Bank & Trust Company in Edinburg, Texas while pursuing a business degree at Pan American University where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, and later attended the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University. He continued his banking career at Texas State Bank and the San Benito Bank & Trust Company before concluding a 35-year career from which he is reverently remembered by his clients for his support building many local businesses.

He was active in many civic organizations including the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce and the Edinburg Rotary Club where he was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. Always a consummate family man, he devoted his time to his wife and sons to whom he taught countless life lessons, especially on the lower Laguna Madre between catching fish and untangling lines.

Never one to remain idle, he shifted his post-retirement energy to his real estate development business with his business partner, David Wiechering, and together they developed more than 25 residential subdivisions throughout the Rio Grande Valley. He made the most of every moment pursuing his passion for travel with the love of his life, Dorris. He adopted the mantra "Life Is Good!" as they gratefully toasted to their many blessings while cris-crossing the country in motorhomes and circling the world on more than 55 cruises. He most loved spending time around his Laguna Vista home making memories with his family, especially his grandchildren, that they will all cherish forever.

Tim (Dad, Paw-Paw) is proceeded by his parents W.W. & Goldie Gearhart and will be greatly missed by his devoted wife of 53 years - Dorris; Sons - Troy (Rebecca) and Stuart (Emily); Grandchildren - Derrick & Parker Gearhart and Addyson & William Stocker; Sisters - Phyllis Tumlinson (H.L.) and Marcene Conine (Randy) and nephews and nieces.

He was particularly grateful for his formidable army of prayer warriors whose prayers afforded the strength to carry him through his final journey in comfort with his head held high.

A visitation will be held Friday, August 30, 2024 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Kreidler Funeral Home, 314 N 10 Street, McAllen, Texas. A Celebration Service will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. John's Episcopal Church, 2500 N 10th Street, McAllen. The burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society or M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
