WILLIAM EWING Obituary
MCALLEN - Bill Ewing went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at the age of 53, after a year-long battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Ewing of McAllen; three daughters, Ashley Stockel (Joshuah) and Audrey Huston (TJ) of McAllen, and Abbey Kunkle (Scott) of College Station. Grandchildren are Kylie, Bailey and Tanner Huston, Avery Kunkle and Addison Stockel. Bill is also survived by his mother, B.J. Ewing of McAllen, and three brothers, Mickey (Connie) of Victoria, James (Debbie) of McAllen, and Terry (Martha) of Brownfield.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry F. Ewing of McAllen.
He was Chief of Field Operations for South Texas Communications and owner of RGV Photo. He was a member and deacon of Calvary Baptist Church of McAllen, where he served faithfully for many years. He was a loving husband, father, and "Poppa".
Services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church of McAllen, 1600 Harvey Drive, at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 13.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Davis, David Heflin, Mark Richardson, Joel Salinger, Don Stansel and Dickey Thompson.

Debbie,
My condolences to you and the girls on the loss of Billy. I am sad my boyhood freind has been taken from us. I am glad to be assured he is with Jesus now. I have so many great memories of him and Harry working on the radios in the Fire Station. We lived across the street from each other as kids. Billy leaves a great family legacy for you all to enjoy. Debbie and girls,
I am late in sending my condolences to you all, but know that you have all been in my prayers the last 2 months. I rejoice with you in Bill's homegoing, even as I grieve with you in his loss here.
Bill encouraged me so much when I was a teenager, just beginning to sing in church. I still think of him every time I hold a microphone, because I remember him teaching me how to hold it correctly and not turn my head away from it!
His heart for God was evident in his life and in his family. I am praying for all of you.

I met Billy when I was a rookie dispatcher at McAllen PD in 1981. In fact, I still carry a Motorola 2135 key that he gave me so that I could hit the "reset" button so he wouldn't have to come get a radio back on the air in the middle of the night! No matter the problem, Bill was the kind of guy that would always wear a smile no matter if it were in the light of day, or at 3am when we had to call him in. That smile and warmth will be dearly missed.
I was in Washington DC when I learned of Bill's passing and unfortunately could not be here for his service. However, I'd like the entire Ewing family and extended family to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

To all the Ewing family: Mike and I were heartbroken to hear of Bill's passing. We had kept up with him through his emails and I have saved them all. He was such an inspiration to us and we will miss him terribly. He had a "forever" smile, and I can still see him in my mind's eye! We will never forget all the good times we had with him and Debbie and our privilege of getting to know them and sing with them in the "Adult Ensemble" at Calvary, and his working with Mike on the sound issues at Calvary, as well as working with him at STC. There's not enough room here to put all our feelings of sadness that we will never see him again on this earth, but mixed with joy knowing that he is now in Heaven with God and we will see him when our time comes. He and Harry are now watching over their families. We love you all and miss you so much.

Sorry to hear of Bill's passing. Our daughter's Sheri and Gayla were friends, classmates and church friends

We were so very sorry to hear about Bill. My brother-in-law (age 61) passed away 11/3 after being diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer 3 weeks ago. He was also a wonderful person. Now they are together in heaven & I'm sure will be friends.

Words cannot express what the entire Ewing family has meant to me over the last nearly 30 years. I admired and respected Bill and Debbie so very much and especially their beautiful marriage and three precious daughters. I will miss Bill's humor and wisdom.
