Albert F. Wentworth, age 79, of Clare, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 1, 2011 in Pontiac. He was born June 14, 1931, in Clare, the son of George and Margaret (Coutcher) Wentworth. He married Mary Murphy who survives him. Albert had been a Dairy Farmer all of his life and had served with the US Army during the Korean War. He had served on the board of directors at Chemical Bank in Clare, had served with Michigan Milk Producers Assn., Knights of Columbus, was a member of St. Cecilia Church, had been a 4-H Dairy Club Leader, and served on the A.S.C.S. Board. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors, and loved to play cards.
Albert is survived by his wife, Mary, his children, Tony Wentworth of Clare, Vicky and Loren DeVinney of Canton, Mi., Robert Wentworth of Durham, N.C., Paul and Carla Wentworth, Bruce and Sue Wentworth all of Clare, Gordon and Michele Wentworth of Sanford, Elaine and Rick Krell of Clare, and Melissa and Dave Ostertag of Lake Orion. Also surviving are nine grandsons, five granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, his brothers, John and Clarence (Mary) Wentworth all of Clare and sisters, Elizabeth Cuddie of Gladwin and Cecilia Ahlers of Concord, Michigan, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Jerry, a sister Eleanora Hutchinson, and his brother William.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2011, at the St. Cecilia Church in Clare with burial in St. Cecilia Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home. A scripture service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m.. Memorials may be made to St. Cecilia Church or to Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund.
