David B. "Shoe" Shoemaker

David B Shoemaker "Shoe" 8-26-1943 - 8-31-2022, was born in Detroit, MI to Clarence and Virginia (Grimes) Shoemaker. Dave discovered the beauty of Mid-Michigan while attending Ferris State University (B.S. in Accounting). He became a CPA which he enjoyed for 40 plus years. Dave married his wife Kathryn Taylor on December 24, 1965. Christmas Eve was always a celebratory time of year for the family. In 1968 the family moved to Lake Isabella. Dave was an active community member being a board member, Land developer and sat on the Village council. The "Shoe" as he was called, enjoyed the Lake life. He loved pontooning, golf, snowmobiling and being a great neighbor. "Shoe" and Larry Rescoe started the 4th of July fireworks at Lake Isabella which are enjoyed to this day. Dave was also a proud member of the Miami Nation of Native Americans. Dave was proceeded in death by parents Clarence and Virginia Shoemaker, brother Clair and Patricia Shoemaker and sister Linda and Chuck Staley. Dave is survived by his wife of almost 57 years Kathryn Shoemaker, son Douglas R. and Brandi (Tithof), Emilia G and Declan J Shoemaker, daughter Amy Dolezal, Lauren Dolezal, son James M and Mary Amanda, Benjamin R and Samuel D Shoemaker, neice Christine and Terry Hmoud, nephew John and Laura Shoemaker, neice Virginia Staley and nephew Charles Staley. He was called "Papa Shoe" by his 5 grandchildren. A special thanks to Hospice and ROYAL VIEW Assisted Living. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Hospice of Mid-Michigan.
