Jean Frances Shaw

1922 - 2015

Shaw, Jean Frances; age 93; of Alma; passed away peacefully in the presence of loving family on Friday, June 26, 2015; at Masonic Pathways in Alma. She was born on April 20, 1922 in Ithaca, the daughter of Alvin B. and Mayme Agnes (Sells) Clark. She was married to Keith Shaw on November 19, 1941. Jean was an active member of the Alma United Methodist Church, volunteering and participating in the United Methodist Women’s Group and their Prayer Quilt Ministry. She enjoyed the out of doors; especially gardening, walking and bird watching. She also enjoyed golf and was a past member of the North Star women’s golf league. Jean enjoyed quiet time; reading, sewing, quilting and creating needlework heirlooms. Most importantly Jean nurtured and treasured her many connections with family and friends. Jean is survived by her six children, Carol Ann (Ralph) Meyer of South Waverly, PA; Vicki Harding of Waverly, NY; Patricia (Steele) Burkey of Missoula, MT; Suzanne Tank of Little Rock, AR; Phillip (Paula) Shaw of Hemlock; Nancy (David) Beery of Louisville, CO; five grandchildren, Keith (Beth) Meyer; Jeanne Meyer; Lisa (Don) Herzog; Diane Shaw; Crystal (Chad) Whelton; five great grandchildren, Michael “M.J.”; Matthew; Rachel; Aiden; Braeden.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Keith; two sons-in-law, Bill Harding; Patrick Tank; siblings, Fern Allen; Bruce Clark; Pete Clark; Joyce Eckelbarger; Marian Grandy; Margaret Ann Bloss. A Memorial Service to Celebrate Jean’s Life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 4 p.m. at the Alma United Methodist Church with Pastor Debbie Thomas officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Alma. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alma United Methodist Church, Heifer International or the National Wildlife Federation.
