John Hensley Obituary

John Robert Hensley 67, of St. Louis, formerly of Burnsville North Carolina passed away Friday January 5, 2024 at home with his brother Gary Hensley, and sister-in-law, Sheila Hensley by his side. John was born in Mt. Clemens, MI December 18, 1956, the son of Joan Culver (Sikon) and Robert Gary Hensley. He was a 1975 graduate of St. Louis High School where he played football. After high school he worked at Ford Motor Company in Sterling Heights MI, and Alma Product Company in Alma MI, until he moved to Burnsville where he worked at OMC Boat Motors. He attended The Billy Graham School of Ministry in Asheville North Carolina, and Mayland Community College in Burnsville North Carolina, where he studied welding. John especially enjoyed the mountains of North Carolina, a place he called, Gods Country, he would often go into the hills where he would shoot his guns. John will be remembered for his willingness to help others around town, whether it being mowing their lawn or building a barn…he often stated that he could build, create or fix anything. No matter how big or small, his work was always of the highest quality and craftsmanship. John is survived by brothers, Gary Hensley of St, Louis, Troy Titchenell of Shelby Twp, Jeff Titchenell of Ludowici, Georgia and sister Barbie Culver of Pinconning, MI. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joan and Robert; sisters Carol Culver and Leslie Culver. A Memorial Service celebrating John's life will be held at Noon on Saturday January 27th at the Countryside United Brethren Church, 4762 S. 11 Mile Rd., Breckenridge, MI. 48615 Spring of 2024, John will be taken to the place he called home, Burnsville, NC and laid to rest in the McIntosh Family Cemetery.
