Linda Meyer Obituary

Linda L. Meyer; age 76 of Shepherd, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Detroit Henry Ford Hospital. Linda was born February 8, 1946, in Mt. Pleasant, to Bob and Dorothy Recker (Diehl). She grew up on their dairy farm outside Shepherd and attended a one room schoolhouse down the road. Linda graduated from Shepherd High School in 1964 where she met her future husband, Vincent Meyer. She attended Northwood University after high school to study business. In 1965, she married Vince, and they had three daughters. Linda was a devoted mother when her girls were young, spending summer days in the pool and countless hours cooking amazing meals. In the mid 1980s, Vince and Linda became co-owners in the local Village Market grocery store with Vince's brother Larry and cousin Art. Linda enjoyed managing the market with her sister-in-law Elaine and Art's wife, Ruthann. She spent countless hours baking bread, cinnamon rolls, homemade sandwiches and soup for her customers for many years. After that, she dedicated over 20 years as an office manager at Mt. Pleasant Supply. Linda enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking, and walking with her friends, Kay and Micki, around her hometown of Shepherd. Linda is survived by her husband of 57 years, Vince, and their three children, Chris Casper (Ed), Anne McKinney (Dan), and Katie Martin (Brian). She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren: Jory Casper (Becca), Kortney Casper (Devon), Nathen Casper (Nikole), Avery McKinney, Ella McKinney, Sophie Martin, Macy Martin, Cooper Martin, and her two cats (Minnie and Flash). She was preceded in death by her parents. Most important to Linda was her family, friends, neighbors, and especially her grandchildren. She loved spending time with them on family vacations, watching their sporting events and performances, and spoiling them with their favorite foods. In addition, Linda was a person who would do anything for anyone. She was a role model for compassion and generosity, and positively impacted those around her. She will be dearly missed. Services for Linda will be Tuesday, December 6 at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church with Father Fred Kawka officiating. There will be a visitation on Monday, December 5 from 4-8 p.m. with a scripture service at 7 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association in honor of Linda are

appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to Berry Funeral Home of Shepherd.
