Lowell Boyer Obituary
Lowell Richard Boyer, age 95, passed away at his home on July 17, 2013. A Memorial Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Alma, MI on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11 a.m., with a luncheon to follow. Pastor Debbie Thomas will officiate.
Born the third of nine children to Elmer and Lillian Boyer in Ithaca, MI, Lowell attended Ithaca schools, graduating from Ithaca High School in 1936. In May of 1939 he married Bernice E. Zimmerman, who preceded him in death on December 14, 2006. Lowell and Bernice are survived by a daughter, Judith and her partner Eileen Mc Cawley; a son, Roger and his wife Judy; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Gwendol; and a sister Janet.
As a lifelong vocalist, Lowell was not only active in Methodist church choirs in Alma and Zephyrhills, FL but as a barber shopper, as well. Lowell sang bass with the Gratiot County chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society for 65 consecutive years. In addition to singing with the chorus, he sang with several quartets and performed across Gratiot County and beyond.

The family is being served by the Dewey Funeral Home of Alma.

Judith and Eileen, Roger and Judy: We are so sorry for your loss. Your parents were beautiful people, and brought our family much joy over the years. Seeing them take their walks in the morning, hearing your dad sing, or mom play – and sharing cherries and cookies with them – they were just such a blessing to us. I'm sure they are rejoicing being together again. Please know that we are thinking of you and all of your family at this time. The Spooners.
