Martina Torres Obituary

Torres, Martina Loving mother and grandmother and long-time resident of Alma, MI, returned home to our Lord on March 16, 2018 at the age of 87, surrounded by her family. Martina was born January 30, 1931 in San Juan, TX, the daughter of Maximo and Felicita Rodriguez. She married David Torres and they later moved to Alma where she devoted the majority of her life to raising their twelve children. After later retiring from Con Tech, she moved to Eagle where she spent her remaining years. Martina enjoyed going to auction sales, collecting antiques, but most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Martina was preceded in death by her husband, David Torres, and youngest son, Jose (Joey) Antonio Torres. Martina is survived by her five sons, Raul (Pam) of Bossier City, LA; Marcos (Gloria) of Lansing; David of Ionia, Juan (Jonda Wallace) of Eagle; Felipe (Judi Perry) of Grand Ledge; six daughters, San Juanita Torres of DeWitt; Maria Lewis, Alicia Lewis, Gloria (John) Lanum all of Lansing; Christina (Michael) Campbell of Sumner; Diana (Pete Sabo) Torres of Alma; along with her 25 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Dewey Funeral Home in Alma on Tuesday March 20, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., with a Rosary scheduled at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Louis, MI on Wednesday March 21, 2018 at 11 a.m. Father Nate Harburg will officiate. Burial will take place in Chapel Gardens, Elwell. The family is being served by the Dewey Funeral Home in Alma.
