Roberta Rae Thomas, age 70 of St. Louis passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center Gratiot in Alma surrounded by her family. She was born July 18, 1950 in Scott City, Kansas the daughter of Charles "Cliff" and Arlene (Coble) Downing. She married Everett "Bud" Thomas on March 10, 1973, a blessed union of 48 years. Roberta attended Delta Beauty College and worked for Billig's Flowers in St. Louis for over five years. She spent many years working at Mill Street Furniture in St. Louis, before retiring in 2005 to spend more time with her family. She enjoyed taking family vacations and Myrtle Beach was her happy place, especially finding shells and shark teeth on the beach to bring back to her grand babies. Her greatest treasure was her family and she would do anything for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They always knew grandma would have something special for them every time she visited. She was also, "Mom" to every one of her children's friends and they were always welcomed into her home as her own children. Roberta is survived by her husband, Bud Thomas; four children, Barry (Amy) Thomas, Tanya (Gordon) Richards, Christina (Johnathon) Fales, Lacy (Andy) Diaz; a special nephew who she referred to as her extra son, Trevor Bott, along with many nieces and nephews; her siblings, Rosalie Sowles, Carolyn Erskine, Danny Downing, Gloria Edgar; also the loves of her life, grandchildren, Kelson Thomas, Cheyanne Smith (Josh Baeza), Shelby Richards (Timmy Alspaugh), Hallie Fales (Hunter Fellows), Logan Thomas, Brendan Thomas, Jordon Richards, Saleen Richards, Blaze Fales, Marquez Diaz, Jules Fales, Jack Fales, Damien Diaz, Dylan Diaz, Eriq Richards, Lilah Diaz, Micah Diaz, Sebastian Diaz and Baby Diaz; great-grandchildren, Harlyn Fellows and Xander Baeza. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cliff and Arlene Downing; sisters, Carol Downing, Janis Bott, a brother, Allen Dowing, her in-laws, Everett and Mary Thomas; and brother-in-law, Jerry Thomas. The family would like to thank the staff of the Covid Unit, with a special thanks to Drs. Prouty, Obeid, Raydaga, Armstrong, nurses, Sophie, Brook, Amy, Cory and respiratory therapist, Char. Per Roberta's wishes, cremation has taken place with memorial services to be held at a later date. Those desiring may make memorial contributions in Roberta's memory to the
