Here, in a few words. is what I could write a book about titled: “Being Tom Tuma’s First Cousin”

Tom and I were born 5 years apart in Detroit and lived near enough that he and I and all of us first cousins, saw each other often. Later, Tom and I spent many golf trips together with our uncles, their friends, and our siblings. In recent years we saw each other annually at reunions and at special events. The stories I could tell about my many experiences with Tom are endless and any attempt I make here to describe this man will understate reality. But I’ll still try. My dear cousin Tom was:

•A unique “character,” not like anyone else you know
•“Bigger than Life”: physically imposing and always dressed to the hilt
•Warm and generous – always there when you needed him
•Genuine: you always got the real guy, no pretentions
•Very successful at work and at play
•Very interesting: being with Tom was always a “party”
•Talented: quick witted, and skilled at the things that interested him
•A close family guy, to his personal family and to us, his extended family

I am absolutely shocked by Tom’s death. I thought he was a guy who would “go on forever.” His memory will go on forever in those of us fortunate enough to have been a part of his life.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Devra, Tyler, Trenton, Amanda and family, Jerry, Marcia and family, Ted and family, and to all of us extended family members, friends and associates who loved and who will miss Tom dearly.

Devra, Tyler, Trenton and family: I’m am shocked and saddened to learn of Tom’s passing. Always upbeat, terrific sense of humor, loving husband and Dad. I will find consolation in having had the opportunity to engage Tom in fun, frivolity and friendship. May God bless you, one and all.
